March 11, 2021
Dear ALH Students, Families, and Staff,
Albany County approved school districts to move ahead with sports that the state has deemed higher risk due to COVID-19. NYSPHSAA COVID-19 Info Page.
Effective February 1, 2021, and until otherwise indicated, student-athletes are permitted to participate in K-12 sponsored higher-risk school sports, provided that the requirements below are met. Local Health Departments and the NYS Department of Health monitor and evaluate COVID-19 data daily and if indicated, the ability for K-12 higher-risk sports to occur may be suspended.
Conforming to these Department of Health, Section 2, and Patroon league protocols, Albany Leadership is proud to announce we can safely offer 2 seasons of educational athletics for the 2021 academic year. While our seasons were condensed, we are extremely pleased and grateful that we can provide student-athletes and the school community with the opportunity to participate in interscholastic athletics. This school year, and the global pandemic, have presented many challenges and sacrifices. We know that safe interscholastic opportunities can provide some degree of normalcy for all involved. These opportunities will be scheduled as follows:
Season #1 (Fall II) ~ Start: 3/15/21 – End: 4/30/21
Programs: Volleyball – Varsity & JV
Season #2 (Spring) ~ Start: 5/3/21 – End: 6/25/21
Programs:
- Softball – JV
- Track – Varsity

Am I cleared to play? You must:
1) Complete the FamilyID Form, which includes important health and COVID information reviewed by the Nurses Office prior to each season, as well as mandatory policies and agreements.
2) Provide a Current Physical: Either upload a current image of the physical to the FamilyID sports registration form or bring a copy to the Nurses Office. Physicals expire 12 months after the date of the health exam. No athlete will be permitted to play or tryout with an expired physical.
*NYSED waived the physical exam requirement for students for the 2020-21 school year if they have previously had a health examination for school attendance in the 2018-2019 or 2019-2020 school years.
3) Meet Athletic Code of Conduct and Academic Eligibility Requirements.
Thank you for taking the time to ensure the completion of all eligibility paperwork. The Albany Leadership Athletic Department is committed to working with you to support your student’s lifelong success both in and outside of the classroom.
