Dear Families:
Governor Hochul announced Sunday that, based on a dramatic decrease in COVID-19 rates statewide and the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, masks will be optional inside New York school buildings beginning Wednesday.
Following Albany County, ALCS will lift the mask mandate beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 2nd. Effective tomorrow, students, faculty and visitors are welcome to continue wearing masks but no longer required to do so.
All other existing COVID-19 protocols will remain in place until otherwise directed. This includes but is not limited to, social distancing and temperature checks.
The governor’s mask optional directive also applies to school buses. If your child rides a school district provided bus, it is up to that district to lift the mask mandate while riding.
All public transportation will still require mask wearing until further notice. Please ensure if you ride public transportation that you have a mask with you.
ALCS will respect all personal decisions around mask wearing.
We will keep you informed as we continue to receive guidance from the local health department and CDC.
