Albany, NY — On Thursday, October 23rd, Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls made history by hosting its first-ever Alumni Volleyball Game at the high school gymnasium on 19 Hackett Blvd. The event brought together former and current Panthers for an evening filled with competition, laughter, and school spirit.
Alumni from several graduating classes laced up their sneakers once again to face off against our current student-athletes in a friendly yet spirited match. The gym buzzed with excitement as families, friends, and faculty filled the stands to cheer on both teams.
“This was such a special night,” said one alumna. “Coming back to the school and reconnecting with former teammates reminded me how strong the sisterhood here really is.”
The event also served as a fundraiser for the Albany Leadership Alumni Association, with proceeds supporting future alumni events and engagement opportunities. Participants contributed a $15 player fee, helping to strengthen the growing alumni network and create lasting traditions for years to come.
Coach Shields and the athletics department expressed their gratitude to all who participated and supported the event. “It’s inspiring to see our alumni return, still representing the values of leadership, sisterhood, and pride that define Albany Leadership,” said Coach Shields.
With this inaugural game marking a new tradition, the school looks forward to continuing to build connections between current scholars and the incredible women who helped pave the way.
