Curriculum
At Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls, we believe every girl deserves an education that challenges her, supports her, and prepares her to succeed in college, career, and life. Our academic program is intentionally designed to be rigorous, engaging, and relevant, while honoring who our scholars are and where they come from.
What This Means for Your Child
High Expectations + Strong Support
Your child will engage in challenging, standards-based coursework that builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and confidence. We believe in pushing scholars to reach their full potential — and providing the support they need to get there.
Teachers Who Are Always Growing
Our teachers participate in weekly professional learning to sharpen instruction, analyze student progress, and continuously improve their practice. This means your child benefits from thoughtful, well-prepared educators who collaborate to ensure no scholar falls through the cracks.
Learning That Matters
Beyond preparing students for New York State Exams and Regents assessments, our scholars participate in inquiry-based learning that connects academics to real-world issues. Students learn not just what to think, but how to think — and why their learning matters.
Equity, Identity, and Voice
We create classrooms where girls feel seen, valued, and empowered. Instruction is culturally responsive and student-centered, helping scholars build pride in who they are while developing the skills to lead and advocate for themselves.
How We Measure Success
At ALCS, accountability goes beyond test scores. We track student growth closely, provide timely support, and hold ourselves responsible for ensuring every scholar makes progress. At the same time, we invest in our educators — because strong teaching is the foundation of student success.
Our Promise to Families
At Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls, we:
-
Challenge every scholar
-
Support every learner
-
Grow every teacher
-
And close gaps with purpose and intention
Because here, excellence is not accidental — we strive to Be Excellent on Purpose, every day, in every classroom, for every scholar.
