Through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Albany Leadership Softball team has come together this season to show tremendous heart. This year’s team is comprised of new players to the sport mostly students in grades 9 and 10 with two students from grade 11. Our softball coaches, Ms. Dunne, and Ms. Griswold have excitedly helped the team to develop their skills and practice routine in a safe and supportive environment. On the field, every player knows they have the support of their coaches and their teammates with words of encouragement, supportive critique, and congratulations through every inning.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this season seems to have gone by fast, but our players continue to focus on the craft of the game and display an immense amount of growth in a short period of time. State Guidance does allow 2 spectators per player at softball games and any spectator would take special notice of a few players at Albany Leadership. New member, Brook-Lynn (Grade 9) has shown tremendous effort and enthusiasm on and off the field. Returning member, Aaliyah (Grade 11) was seen putting her heart behind every play while new member Mia (Grade 10), has shown skills as the team pitcher that rivals other schools.

Ms. Griswold has said, “I am very excited to see the growth of our players both as a team and as individuals”.
