Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls is excited to announce that the Girls Rising: Empowerment & Wellness Program has been approved for $35,000 in funding! This program will provide tobacco and substance use prevention education for middle and high school students, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices.

What This Means for Our Community:

This program will equip students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy, informed choices while providing crucial support for those who may be struggling.

Prevention Education – Interactive lessons will help students understand the risks of tobacco, vaping, and substance use through real-life scenarios and discussions.
Cessation Strategies – Students who need support in quitting will receive guidance on resisting peer pressure, managing stress, and building healthy habits.
Counseling & Peer Support – Access to trained counselors and peer-led discussions will foster resilience in a safe, judgment-free space.
Teacher Training – Educators will be trained to recognize warning signs and provide meaningful support.
Community Engagement – Workshops, guest speakers, and social media outreach will bring families, professionals, and local leaders together to strengthen our impact.

Our Commitment to Change

With this initiative, ALCS is working to reduce substance use initiation, support student well-being, and foster a culture of empowerment.

We invite the community to join us in making a difference. Stay tuned for updates on Girls Rising as we take this important step forward together!
