Senior Celebrations
Albany Leadership has been so excited to celebrate the Class of 2020 throughout the past month. We kicked off on May 29th, having a virtual celebration announcing senior superlatives and the colleges our seniors have been accepted and committed to. We moved through June celebrating our seniors on social media, highlighting their accomplishments. We then celebrated their graduation June 15th-18th. We had students come to celebrate their graduation with family and staff cheering them on. We were lucky that we had a beautiful week to have celebrations outside. We were able to put up tents, balloons, a red carpet and graduation stage for the seniors to walk through. We also wanted to give our Class of 2020 a little something special. All seniors received a bag with a personalized poster, Alumni sticker, a t-shirt and of ALH’s famous cookies! In addition, we had our staff lining our parking lot with decorated cars and tents.
While this was never what we would have imagined for a graduation ceremony, it is what we felt would celebrate each of our graduates individually and safely.
But we didn’t stop there! Albany Leadership has implemented an Adopt-A-Senior program. We are so grateful for staff (past and present), board members and community members alike who are helping us celebrate seniors as they move on to their next adventure.
We will be concluding our celebrations (for now) with a virtual graduation on June 26th. Each student will receive their own webpage specifically for them. This will include a full video with pictures of students, speeches and a video of each student walking across the stage. We are incredibly proud of all that these students have persevered through and wish them the best in their next endeavor.
