July 1, 2025 | Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls is proud to announce the appointment of Mrs. Felicia Woods as the new 6–12 Principal of Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls. This exciting leadership transition marks a major milestone in the school’s continued evolution as a 6–12 Academy of Excellence.

As the school grows toward a fully unified 6–12 model, the institution saw fit to establish one consistent leader across both the middle and high school. This move ensures that students and families benefit from a shared vision, strong academic culture, and seamless leadership from 6th grade through 12th grade. Mrs. Woods is the right leader at the right time. With a steadfast commitment to equity, academic rigor, and girl-centered leadership development, she brings the experience, vision, and heart needed to lead Albany Leadership into its next chapter.

“Mrs. Woods has proven herself to be an advocate for our students, a model of professionalism, and a passionate educator,” said Dr. Ron Large, CEO. “Her presence will ensure that every scholar, family, and staff member feels supported from the first day of 6th grade to the day they walk across the graduation stage.”

Raised throughout the Capital District, Mrs. Woods is deeply connected to the community Albany Leadership serves. She is a proud mother of five and a dedicated educational leader with 10 years of experience in education, including seven years in the classroom and three years in school leadership. While working at Albany Leadership, Mrs. Woods recently completed her second Master’s Degree in Administration and Leadership, exemplifying her belief in lifelong learning and the importance of modeling academic excellence for her scholars. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University at Albany and her first Master’s Degree in Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University.

Throughout her time at Albany Leadership High School, Mrs. Woods has been instrumental in improving school culture, academic achievement, and staff development. Her vision for the 6–12 model includes aligned curriculum planning, stronger transition supports for rising 9th graders, and a leadership pipeline that empowers girls from their earliest years at the school. Mrs. Woods’ leadership will focus on ensuring that every student is known, challenged, and celebrated. Her belief in sisterhood, service, scholarship, and leadership aligns deeply with Albany Leadership’s mission, and her appointment symbolizes the school’s commitment to excellence, equity, and empowerment across all grades.

As the new 6–12 Principal, Mrs. Woods will continue to build a unified, student-centered culture that supports academic success, emotional development, and college readiness, while ensuring families are engaged and confident in the future of their daughters’ education.
