As the start of the academic year approaches, Albany Leadership teachers, administrators, and support staff are working diligently to prepare for a safe and academically challenging school year. Whether we welcome students in person or through a virtual lens, the importance of the Albany Leadership mission and values will remain a central theme to our work, our curriculum, and our community impact.

The Albany Leadership mission is “to prepare young women to graduate from high school with the academic and leadership skills necessary to succeed in the college and the career of their choosing”. 

The word leadership is a pivotal term within our collective school community. Yet, it seems important to unpack and examine what our definition really means. While the dictionary may have varied interpretations of this term, for us, leadership is both a group of qualities within an individual to lead people and the act of making a positive impact on one’s community locally and globally. For any student to accomplish our definition of leadership parents, teachers, and students alike should collectively value these four skills:

  • Self- awareness
  • Accountability
  • Self-motivation
  • Collaboration

By implementing these four skills over time, a student can develop and strengthen their communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills. Combined with encouragement, empathy, and consistent expectations, students will graduate with the skills necessary to enroll and graduate from the college of their choosing.
